FOR THE LOVE OF FRANCE

(& TRAVEL ANYWHERE!)

I read somewhere years ago that a tourist and a traveler are a different species. Not that they can't share traits, but tourists tend to concentrate on sites, pools, and fine dining. (And sometimes they prefer that meal to be what they get at home.)

Travelers dig deeper. They reach out to meet  locals, explore the culture, learn about the history, art and new foods.

Sadly, I am a hybrid, not having reached the traveling heights of the memorable Anthony Bourdain. (No fried insects or sweetbreads, please!)

My personal dream was to live in France and use it as the jumping-off point for adventures throughout Europe. The shortcuts I discovered in planning the move inspired me to help others plan their own long-term adventure, wherever it may be.

The Grown-Up’s Guide to Running Away from Home became an Amazon best-seller for senior travel and led to a series including, naturally, The Grown-Up's Guide to Living in France

The only thing I love more than travel is writing. That's what I'm doing here by sharing more adventures, insights, tips, and stories of my own and traveling friends in a range of destinations.

Enjoy the journey!
